STATEMENT
OF PURPOSE
McDonald's founder Ray A. Kroc taught his family to share its success
with others, a philosophy that has characterized McDonald's community
commitment since 1955. The establishment of Ronald McDonald House
Charities (RMHC) in Ray's memory confirmed McDonald's commitment to
children everywhere.
Making its first grant in 1988, Ronald McDonald House Charities of
Kentuckiana (RMHCK) continues to provide "comfort and care" to children
and families in the
Kentuckiana region through its support
of the Ronald McDonald House of Louisville and by making grants to
nonprofit organizations whose programs help children in need. Grants
are made in the areas of healthcare, medical research, education and
social responsibility.
Our cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House of Louisville, is a
"home away from home" for families with ill and injured children who
must travel to Louisville for medical treatment. Families who stay at
the House find other families with the same concerns, and staff and
volunteers who listen and who care. While RMHCK continues to provide
financial and institutional support to the Ronald McDonald House, the
House must rely on the generosity of the people and businesses of
Kentuckiana to provide the bulk of the funds necessary for its
operation.
